Look out for each other. Get everyone home.
friendsdrivesober.org is a small, community-minded road-safety desk about driving sober and undistracted — and about the social side of the problem: the ride home, the group chat, the plan.
What we publish
Three things. The Toolkit — practical habits that get everyone home, decided early and practiced together. Stories — the nights and saves that stuck, told by the people who were there. And Ask the Desk — honest answers to the awkward questions nobody wants to ask out loud.
How we tell stories
Our stories are illustrative and composite: realistic accounts drawn from the patterns readers share with us, with names and identifying details changed. They are never presented as verified journalism. Where a story rests on public record — a court case, a reported event — we keep it strictly factual and say so.
What we don’t do
We don’t lecture, we don’t scaremonger, and we don’t pretend a statistic ever talked anyone out of a bad decision at midnight. Plans do. That’s why everything here comes back to the same sixty seconds: name the driver, cover their sodas, pool the ride money, text “home.”
The Ride Board
A small board of local partners helps keep this desk running — neighbors who help neighbors get home safe. One quiet strip on the homepage, no banners, no noise. If that sounds like you, write to the desk.
Road-safety awareness and general information — not legal or medical advice. If you’re in immediate danger or believe someone is about to drive impaired, contact local authorities.
