Steps to Take to Implement Your Program
Starting a program will take time, money, and hard
work, but the benefits far exceed the costs. Whenever you start
a program, much of the work comes beforehand. To assist you in getting
your program off the ground, we have created a list of steps that
will help guide you in your efforts. Keep in mind that depending
on your campus, the implementation of these steps could take anywhere
from several weeks to several months, but either way, this will
help you create a timeline for your project.
Whichever program you choose to implement, these
are the first steps:
- Contact community and campus groups
- Form student and advisory committees
- Research previous school-initiated safe ride program
efforts
- Research other community safe ride efforts
- Hold a student committee meeting
- Determine the target audience
- Review (and make any necessary changes to) a student
survey (to find out what student habits and needs really are so
