Red Light/Stop Sign Running
- In 2002, more than 1.8 million intersection crashes
occurred throughout the nation. Of those, about 219,000 were due
to red light running, resulting in about 1,000 deaths and 181,000
injuries. 1
- One in three Americans knows someone who has been
injured or killed in a red light running crash. 1
What you can do:
- Do not rush through yellow lights. When you enter
an intersection after the light turns yellow, you are putting
yourself and others at risk so obey traffic signals and signs.
- If you have not entered an intersection, adjust
your speed to stop.
