Safety Belt Use - Buckle Up!
- Lap-shoulder belts reduce the risk of fatal injury
to front-seat occupants by 45% and the risk of moderate-to-critical
injuries by 50%. 1
- Average inpatient costs for traffic crash victims
who did not use safety belts were 50% higher than for victims
who were belted. 1
- 22% of unrestrained people are totally ejected.

belts saved 135,102 lives, including 11,889 lives saved in 2000
alone. 2
