Program Evaluation

Program Evaluation

Too often, we forget one of the most crucial aspects of our programming plan: evaluating how it went. For more formal programs, ask you audience to evaluate your presentation by completing a short evaluation. Ask questions about learning new information, presenter style, knowledge of the presenters, etc. Click here to download a sample program evaluation form.

When the program is over and you have had some reflection time, sit down with your group and talk about what went well and what you would change. Which marketing strategies had the greatest effect? Did you budget correctly? How early should the planning take place? Which groups were the best co-sponsors? Who else could have helped? Compile and review your audience's evaluations and discuss the results.

Redefine Success! Hype your program after it is over. Make people wonder what they missed! Also do not get caught up in the numbers. If you expected 50 people to attend and 10 came, celebrate the fact that you gave 10 people something they needed. You made an impact! When you change one person's point of view, you change countless others as well. Leave some careful notes and program files for the people who will plan your next traffic safety and impaired driving prevention effort.
